JEDI: Fallen Order BD-1

The origin of BD-1 was the result of a network of different needs and wants. We wanted to provide the hero with a buddy droid that could be carried on the back like Luke carried Yoda during his training days. The buddy AI could provide insights on the world around, deciphering ancient ruins and projecting maps.

It's size had to be small enough to allow the character to perform agile exploration and combat without getting in the way. It also required some anchor points. Carrying the droid on the back also permitted it to project messages and use it's light to scan the environment, characters and creatures even when the hero is climbing or fighting.

I've always imagined BD as so much more than just a robot, I always thought of BD as a full character with it's own thoughts and emotions. This worked well with the idea of BD being a bipedal droid that could jump off the character's back, run off, discover the world and unlock new paths for the player.
