JEDI: Fallen Order Cal Kestis

Final approved design for Cal Kestis. Cal is a Jedi in hiding following the purge of Order 66. He lives on Bracca, working a brutally difficult and physical ship rigging job where he climbs to perilous heights to disassemble large decommissioned ships.

Cal's uniform consists of a downplayed manual laborer, layered with a welding vest, climbing harness, welding torch, tool belt, maintenance pouches, welding glove and communicator.

The character's design had to be something that reads in silhouette form, it required the limbs to be unobstructed and the hiding theme prevented us from doing a traditional Jedi or robes. Many design elements took their roots in Star Wars manual laborers such as mechanics and welders and where combined with functional elements. It needed some flowing garments like the vest, pouches and straps for secondary animation when running and blowing in the wind. The color palette and detail distribution was also designed to pull the eye up to the focal point.
